Dillon: Hello I must admit going to Prague was quite fun, even the abbeys. Near the massive abbey, an armory was tucked away in the alley way. To make it better, along with a really cool shop (where my friend and I both got tiny metal knights) there was a place where you could shoot a cross bow.
Brendan, Jordan and I (my friend, his brother and me) had massive ice creams in a beer garden ( WOW I never knew a place where they sell beer could be so cool).
Going to Prague has really changed my views about old things. When we stumbled onto a ancient bridge (St. Charles bridge) I found out that MI1 was filmed there (wicked!).Well ta ta for now Dillon
Brianna: I have to say, if more abbeys were like the one we went to in Kutna Hora (decorated in human bones) I suppose I could enjoy them a bit more. The bones from the abbey in the town just outside of Prague were from the plague victims. Also there is a bone chandelier and many wall decorations made purely from bone.
In Prague there were tons of cobbled streets and small tucked away shops. It is a charming city at night especially on the bridge crossing the river. We went to Prague the weekend of one of the big world cup games so there were many team supporters out and about, cheering and clapping and whatever else football fanatics do in Prague.
In all it was a great holiday and I enjoyed seeing the Kings even though the I was the only girl under the age of 13.
Grant: Mary and I visited in Prague in the Summer of 1990 shortly after the velvet revolution. Back then the people of Prague were quite poor and everybody was still very distrustful and guarded.
What a difference today. EU membership has been great for the Czech Republic. The buildings have been beautifully restored and there is a real dynamism to the City, from the Airport to the City Center.
On this trip I met up with the family and our guests at Gatwick Airport on my way back from work in Holland. Kevin and Barb and Brendan and Jordan were wonderful to travel with. As they had lived in Prague for two years a couple of years ago they could take us to all the great spots they discovered during their stay. Thus we saw more in a long weekend than most visitors see in a week.
Beautiful weather, good friends and great beer, not to mention the many beautiful very old (as in abbey) buildings (no beaches meant more time for old buildings) made this whole trip a highlight for me.
Mary: Ah, Prague. Beautiful city. Our guests become hosts as we traveled to Prague for a long weekend. Barb, Kevin, Brendan and Jordan lived in Prague for almost 2 years and brought us around to their favorite spots.
We learned a little Czech and heard many other languages. We ate and drank well, and stayed in the city center in a flat with painted ceilings.
The visit to the town of Kutna Hora, and the bone church was a little macabre. Brianna is contributing many ‘artistic' photos of images that catch her eye: subway design, shoes, moving objects.
Dillon explored the effects of overeating sugar. Well, actually we all experienced the effects of children overeating sugar. My camera, unfortunately does not capture such quick movements well. Grant shamed us all with his early morning 3 hour fast-walking tours of the city. He definitely saw more than the rest of us. Window shopping was a highlight with the many glass shops, wooden toy crafts and stylish clothing.
