Tom and Jim on walk in woods

Back to Table of Contents

How often in the woodland glade, beneath some beechen bow,
I heard a songbird's lovely tone, think I hear it now,
To ramble through that lovely spot, nature's vast domain
Sweet Curraghchase that magic place, where peace forever reigns.

Beneath some spreading chestnut tree, on a lovely summer's day
The clear blue sky and buzzing bee, Heaven's not far away,
The oak and ash and sycamore, to cool and to shade on a summer's day
To stroll beside the lakeside bank, the swans and ducks on display.

It was there the poets used to come, that English literary set
To stroll in that inspiring place, they never would forget
Sweet Curraghchase natures dream, the place where time stands still
Those lofty trees and silver lake, oh what a magic thrill.
